A Random thought!

We all have thoughts frequently popping-up in our minds. How much ever hard you try, sometimes they just don’t leave us.   You're doing something; but the mind works on its own thoughts many a times. Ever experienced the feeling of "I WANT TO SLEEP NOW! Hey, THOUGHTS! Please don't disturb me!"?

Sometimes I do imagine myself opening the Task Manager of my mind and killing the process "Thought.exe", when I am actually fed up... And, if I'm feeling extremely bad for some reason, I imagine myself doing "Shift+delete" to permanently delete the sadness or bad thoughts associated with it. Or, if I am angry, just delete the anger to recycle-bin.  Sometimes, these funny things work and sometimes they don’t. It depends upon the WILL with which the suggestion is given to your mind.
It may sound quite absurd for some, but being a windows system admin, I sometimes tend to implement a few things on my own system :)
I feel that when a man-made machine, computer has this option, how can the God's greatest creation - Man, does not have this option? We delete the unwanted files timely to keep our system clean. Why can't we do the same thing with our own human system - The heart and the mind?
The thoughts come and go. If we thoroughly understand, a thoughtless state exists, but we are too much connected with thoughts, we either take too much interest in them or we hate them, and both are not too good for us. We should do a timely cleaning depending upon the threshold of the mind and the heart to take it up. In my opinion, this will result in a peaceful life...

Any thoughts popping up after reading this??

  1. If we thoroughly understand, a thoughtless state exists,

Even the thought of not having a thought is a thought ultimately. So a thoughtless state never exists. Even if it does exist for argument's sake it can't lead us to happiness for a longer duration.

However as you say we must practice restraint & seek measured response..

I must take some tips from you to popular writings

  2. When the mind gets regulated, mental chatter gradually disappears and we become more receptive to the guiding influence of the heart.

Yes, Madhav, the thoughtless state is no doubt, temporary.. It is a condition, where we temporarily kind of lose ourselves.. and, get peace for that time...

  3. guiding influence of the heart.
That way all are guided by heart(or mind etc). So does that make everybody right? So many people get away with sheer rubbish telling they have followed heart. I've doubts...
and, get peace for that time...
Why temporary peace? Why not permanent? We shall remain permanently thoughtless like plants & in that vegetative state we shall be eternally happy...

  4. My Dear Madhav,
Guiding influence of heart-- there is no question of right and wrong here.... and, nowhere in my blog i mentioned that going by heart is practically correct or not... this is out of scope of my post...

Thoughtlessness gives temporary peace and it is temporary because we are humans.... and thoughtlessness could not be our goal as well...

What I meant to say was something as below:

Imagine you have lots of problems and the thoughts of the problems is making you sick. you have 2 options here : 1) either divert ur mind to another thought, or just try to ignore the present thought... trying to ignore the present thought may be quite difficult.. ok, you try to divert it to another thought... In this process of divertion, there comes a point of time, when you dont have thoughts and u feel absorbed and ur mind is blank....

This feeling of absorption gives u peace for that time and you get diverted from the thoughts of your problems... No doubt, being a human being, they may come back again, depending upon the intensity of the problems...

I hope it's been enough of philosophy for my simple post, which is not my genre :)

Keep cool dude! now, the usage of my mind on this thought has gone above threshold... Cleaning it off to have peace.. HEHEHE...

  5. You have an eye for fantasy without grounding your theories to scientific inspection.
Anyway, you are missing the point. Some get it, some don't. I'll end the discussion anyway.

  12. Hello Deepa.....
Yes we all have mind, and we all use it......but whenever you don't get any answer from your mind and you need to choose one rasta between two then your heart will definitely help you to come out that trouble.

  13. Hi sowji , again a gud one!!!!!!!!
ya i do agree its difficult n temporary to be thoughtless. But one thing which can help us in getting out of our extrenme thoughts is to involve ourselves in some activity.
simple example, when we want to sleep after hectic day v carry all are thoughts with us to our bed room, i think better to carry some book to read , u wil c how fastly v slip into sweet sleep.

  14. Thanks Deepa, Manpreet and anu for your comments.

@Deepa, deleting anger to recycle bin means that we should keep cool when angry and try to avoid that thought. If power is given to thought by continuously thinking, it becomes dangerous. Yes, I believe that it is possible provided you have enough will to do so..
